classes & workshops
General Class Info
- For simplicity, Flora manages all ticketing and booking.
- All instructors (staff and independent) are encouraged to actively promote their classes — invite friends, share on social media, and email your network.
- Flora will also market all classes across our channels.
Class Structure
- Classes are supported by Flora staff, including management and service team members.
- Only one lead instructor is compensated, per class.
- Up to 2 assistants permitted for commission-based Guest Instructor classes, compensated by the Guest Instructor.
- Minimum of 2 students required for a class to run.
- If only 1 student is enrolled we/they need to cancel: 48-hour notice = full refund. 24-hour notice = reschedule or convert to a credit.
- Class start times (estimated): 3:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
- Typical Shift: 2 hours total (30 min setup, 1 hour instruction, 30 min breakdown).
- Class proposals & booking requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance.
- All classes are to be approved by Flora management before booking.
Class Experience Goals
- Encourage creativity, exploration, and personalization.
- Our instructors promote: a positive atmosphere, upbeat energy, encouraging attitude!
- Each student should leave with a finished, physical product.
Instructor types & compensation
1. Staff Instructors (W-2 Employees)
- Pay Range: $14–20/hour + ticket tips
- Minimum $30 seat price, 2 students, materials = <30% of ticket cost.
Instructor Status Levels
Level I — $14/hr + ticket tips
- < 1 year experience OR new to teaching OR new to the subject
Level II — $15.50/hr + ticket tips
- 1–3 years teaching experience
Level III — $18/hr + ticket tips
- 3+ years of experience, highly confident instructor
Level IV *Bonus!* — $20/hr + ticket tips
- Applies when class reaches 8+ students (full table)
- Overrides all experience levels for that session
2. Guest teachers (for Flora-hosted classes)
Flora provides materials & class instructions/outline; the instructor (independent contractor) teaches, but is not part of our staff. Often they run their own independent businesses.
- Pay Range: $15.5-$18/hour + ticket tips
- Eligibility: Level II+ instructors only, not on staff w/Flora
- Minimum $30 seat price, 2 students, materials = <30% of ticket cost.

Instructor Status Levels (IC)
Level II IC — $15.5/hr + ticket tips
- 1–3 years teaching/subject experience with examples/portfolio
Level III IC — $18/hr + ticket tips
- 3+ years experience/subject expert
Instructor Requirements
- W-9 (1099 contractor)
- Any required student intake forms
- Communication and planning with Flora team for correct course supplies, outline, etc.
- Licensing and insurance may be required, depending on class type
Payment
- Paid weekly (following Monday) via PayPal or invoice
- No cash or check payments
3. Guest Instructors (Commission %)
Instructor (independent contractor) runs their own class experience, brings all materials and supplies. Flora supports set up/break down, reserves a beautiful space, and wine/food service during the class.
Compensation
- 70% of class revenue + ticket tips
- Flora retains 30% commission of net sales
Booking Fee
- $50 table booking fee applies
- This fee counts toward Flora’s 30% commission
- Instructor pays whichever is greater:
- $50 minimum OR
- 30% of total class revenue
Responsibilities
Instructor provides:
- All materials and supplies
- Class setup + breakdown
- Student instruction
- Coordination with Flora staff
- Their own hired assistants as needed (Flora does not compensate for additional assistants)
Flora provides:
- Community table(s) or space (indoor or outdoor)
- Booking system
- Marketing support
- Front-of-house staff support & wine (&/or) food service during class
- Support with set up and tear down as much as possible
Requirements
- Must be experienced on the class material, and provide a portfolio or products, etc for examples.
- Both class & instructor fit Flora's brand, audience.
- Must have approval from management.
We'll need:
- Class outline (flow and timing of steps), materials list
- W-9 (1099 contractor)
- Any required licenses/insurance (if applicable)
Independent Contractor Terms
Independent contractors assume liability for:
- Their students
- Their materials
- Any damages caused during their class
Flora reserves the right to:
- Approve or deny any class concept
- Adjust scheduling as needed
- Cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment
Cancellation Policy
- 48-hour cancellation = full refund for students, raincheck avail for instructors
- 24-hour = credit
- Same day = no refund
